About the Restaurant and Owners
The eatery is owned by Ty and Laura Velez, a husband-and-wife duo who started the business as a food truck years ago. Over time, AJ’s Cheesesteaks became well-known throughout Cincinnati, earning a reputation for quality and unique flavors. The business eventually upgraded to a more modern food truck and even had the honor of being featured at FC Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium.
The business experienced significant growth recently, with demand remaining strong year-round. However, operating during the winter posed challenges, as the food truck sometimes encountered mechanical issues during colder months. In 2024, the couple purchased a commercial space for Aj’s Cheesesteaks.
Testimonial
“If you’re hunting for a fantastic Philly cheesesteak, AJ’s is the food truck you need to check out. It’s tucked away at a gas station, but don’t let that fool you–the cheesesteaks here are the real deal. The bread is soft and fluffy, with just enough chew to hold everything together. The meat is tender, juicy, and flavorful, and the melted cheese perfectly ties it together.” – Yelp.
