Cream + Sugar is a Black-owned coffee shop that serves coffee, breakfast, and lunch with a focus on locally sourced and plant-based ingredients. This Cincinnati café prides itself on creating a space perfect for business meetings, catching up with friends and family, and a place to refuel or to simply be inspired through the eclectic and artistic vibe that they house.
Taren Kinebrew, owner of Sweet Petit Desserts in OTR, and Crystal Grace, owner of Grace and Grit Spa in Silverton have joined forces to create Cream + Sugar which opened in March of 2020 amidst a global pandemic.
The storefront sits on the corner of Montgomery and Brewster in Evanston near Xavier University and Walnut Hills High School in the space once occupied by a prior coffee shop called Community Blend. The coffee house showcases expansive windows for plenty of natural light throughout the space, which includes a dining room and a private space in the back for meetings.

This Black-owned business’ vision is to change the business landscape of African American communities, to spread love and inclusion, to inspire creativity, to enhance the business district. Cream + Sugar has had a tremendous opportunity to showcase and teach entrepreneurship to youth by not only leading by example but offering an entrepreneurship internship and program. The mentorship program is designed for children ages 7-10 to allow children to see people who look like them owning and operating thriving businesses.
