Herban Vegans is a Black-owned vegan restaurant specializing in pan-cultural cuisine that disrupted the Cincinnati vegan scene when they decided to feature their world-famous vegan seafood on a full-time basis. Owner, Danielle Delaine chose seafood as her niche because before adapting to a vegan lifestyle she was a pescatarian for more than 13 years.

Herban Vegans’ mission is to offer veganlicious cuisine inspired by the sea and culture from around the world. While their flagship product is vegan seafood they have so much more to offer. They strive for their customers to have a vegan pan-cultural experience with every bite.

Herban Vegans was an instant success from some of their most popular dishes such as their famous Miracle Mac, gourmet sliders, fysh, shr’mp, krab cakes, salm’n patties, savory sides and so much more, all of which are made small batch in-house except for the shr’mp that they get shipped in weekly.

About the Owner:

Herban Vegans started from the lack of access to quality vegan cuisine options and the health concerns of the owner Danielle Delaine. She set out to share her wonderful experience with others that a vegan lifestyle had afforded her. After sharing homemade vegan delicacies with family and friends, they were quick to offer her payment to keep the meals coming.

Having an existing entrepreneurial spirit, she decided at once that this was a great business opportunity and could help so many people at the same time. She saw it as a solution where everyone benefits. After gaining support from the community around her, she decided to take the leap and the rest is history.

In 2020 they started out by holding the only regularly scheduled vegan brunch experience Cincinnati at the time, in Walnut Hills jazz lounge, Caffe’ Vivace, and meal prep services. They persevered through the pandemic from Findlay Kitchen offering pop-up events, curbside pickup and delivery during the shutdown. Delaine was pleasantly surprised at how fast everything took off. Running multiple businesses during a pandemic is no easy task and her other businesses did suffer. But she never gave up.
