About Nolia Kitchen
Nolia Kitchen is a Black-owned New Orleans-cuisine restaurant in Over-the-Rhine. Chef/Owner Jeffery Harris, a New Orleans native, prepares the cuisine of his beloved city with sophistication and flair. Before opening Nolia, Harris served more casual Cajun/Creole dishes, but opening a higher-end eatery was always his endgame. With Nolia, he has fulfilled his goal.
The menu changes seasonally, with a complete overhaul each time. No dish is untouchable because Harris pushes himself creatively. Harris’ drive also means he’s not content to stick to the handful of classic dishes, like gumbo and jambalaya, which have become synonymous with New Orleans cooking.
The South Has Come To Cincinnati
Nolia serves classic Southern flavors and imaginative and unconventional twists to familiar staples.
The decor of the small-but-comfortable restaurant evokes New Orleans without dropping you face-first into the middle of Bourbon Street. No Mardi Gras beads or alligator heads adorn the walls here, though the exposed brick, floral wallpaper, and hanging plants transport diners to the French Quarter’s cozier, quieter corner. The main draws here, perhaps like in New Orleans, are flavor and creativity.
What To Expect
Nolia brings fine dining flavors without fine dining prices. Harris deliberately eschews the overly precious plating and preparation associated with fine dining, as he disdains the “robotic nature” such preparation so often entails. His open kitchen is lively as he banters with staff and customers, mans the stove and plates dishes.
His upbringing inspires Chef Jeff Harris’ menu in New Orleans. The atmosphere, the food, and the hospitality are all inspired by those trips to the candy lady, corner store meals, and travels throughout the south—from Texas to the Carolinas.
