Poppy's Therapeutic Corner

Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner, LLC is a Black-owned mental health service near College Hill serving individuals, couples and families. Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner aims to provide quality care with the view of the whole person. Thus, mental health services are tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

Process

During the therapy relationship, the mental health counselor will set many goals for the counseling outcome. Some will be short-term (such as what the patient would like to discuss in a given session). Some will be long-term (like lessening feelings of discomfort and improving the overall quality of the patient’s life).

The client will set the therapy goals according to what they want to accomplish. The counselor will work with the client in establishing and achieving these goals. The patient will have control and ultimately determine which direction the sessions will take.

The Mission

Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner’s philosophy is to provide leadership and services in a community-wide effort to foster positive, optimal mental health. Additionally, the mental health service aims to assist the community in finding ways to prevent and reduce the residual effects of mental health problems.

The African American therapy service believes that services should be available and accessible to everyone regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin or handicap. Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner believes that appropriate efforts to resolve mental health issues and problems in the community are achieved in a partnership between the community and the practice.

Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner services will include sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences among those served. The therapy business will promote freedom of choice among therapeutic alternatives for the consumer receiving services. No patient or family served will be denied access to any service based on their refusal to accept other services recommended by the agency.
