What to Expect

With Spring officially here and the ground unthawing, it is also time to unthaw our bodies with yoga in the Grand Hall. During this hour, you can move intentionally and explore how poses feel and how to adapt them to your body. The class is open to all practitioners, whether you are curious and new to yoga, have a long-standing practice, or it’s been a while since your last class.

Practicing yoga in a community with others also gives you the chance to ask questions and learn from different perspectives, and an encouraging “for fun” approach is taken even when a pose may (at first) seem out of reach. We will focus on our breath to support us as we move and calm us during a relaxing cool-down as we finish up.

After Class

Stroll through the museum to view the various art exhibitions, visit the research library, or visit the gift shop where you can grab a souvenir.

In addition, you can catch one of the immersive films shown throughout the day, and don’t forget to view the amazing statue of Harriet Tubman, a tribute standing just outside the entrance to the building.
