Originalitees is a Black-owned clothing line that specializes in state, city, and neighborhood pride apparel. Founded in 2009 by local entrepreneur Khisha Asubuhi who remains the company’s CEO and owner. In addition to the store in Walnut Hills, Originalitees can also be found at local festivals and at Pop-Up locations across the Greater Cincinnati region.
Over the past decade, Originalitees’ signature style, paying homage to Midwestern states and local Cincinnati staples, has gained regional and national attention. They have been featured everywhere from Artworks’ Big Pitch event, the Cincinnati City Flea, and The Taste of Cincinnati, to footwear and urban wear conferences across the country.
Originalitees is the exclusive creator and provider of the Cincinnati Reds African American Community Night signature t-shirt. Originalitees broke new ground with this partnership, becoming the first clothing brand to collaborate with the Cincinnati Reds in the ball club’s 150-year history.
The best-selling “Product of Public Schools” branded t-shirt is not only bringing awareness to the importance of supporting public education, but a portion of the proceeds from each shirt purchased also goes back to Cincinnati Public Schools for the Superintendent’s Housing Award. The award provides CPS graduates with a stipend to assist with their transition to higher education.
The Originalitees brand is proof that quality, comfort, affordability, and style are not mutually exclusive. Too often, consumers must decide which of those take precedence. They do not sell anything that the owner and founder would not wear herself and they give serious thought to what consumers want in a clothing line.
