Pata Roja Taqueria is a Cincinnati Black-owned restaurant that provides high-quality, Mexico-City-inspired street food inspired by the culture and traditions of central Mexico, including their signature dish, tacos al pastor, and other Mexican favorites. Pata Roja Taqueria brings together the best traditional flavors of Mexico City and combines them with the hustle and drive of Cincinnati. The name Pata Roja, for example, in Spanglish translates to “red leg” which both illustrates the look of the trompo and the nickname of the Cincinnati Reds.
Menu Offerings:
The signature dish of Pata Roja is the taco al pastor. The taco originated from Lebanese immigrants to Mexico and the lamb was replaced with pork. The same technique is used by those original immigrants and al pastor has become the world’s favorite taco.
The goal of Pata Roja Taqueria is to provide high-quality, affordable tacos. They bring many other signature Mexican dishes including marinated beef bistec tacos and a seasonal vegetarian taco, which will include fresh locally sourced produce. They purchase all the ingredients locally and believe deeply in the preservation of the intent and spirit of taquerias found throughout Ciudad de México.
About the Owner:
First discovered when owner Derrick Braziel visited Mexico City. Derrick has traveled to Mexico City on numerous occasions and trained with local chefs, who have transferred the flavors and techniques that make the food beloved.
Owner Derrick Braziel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Pata Roja. He has worked for the past five years as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of MORTAR, a Cincinnati-based organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs of color start and grow businesses.
