SPARK Philanthropy is a Black woman-owned fundraising consulting firm in Cincinnati, Ohio who is dedicated to helping nonprofits deliver high-quality, mission-driven fundraising strategies and training. Karen Harshaw, founder, has over 20 plus years of fundraising experience raising over $50M.

SPARK’s   goal is to develop the resources, skills and know-how to build a more effective organization, successful donor relationships and maximize revenue. They transform leaders and board members into fundraising powerhouses equipped with the resources they need to be effective and have greater mission impact.

SPARK Philanthropy helps to turn ideas into reality by focusing on four key areas to help meet an organization’s growth goals:

• Fundraising Strategies- annual campaigns, capital campaigns, major gift development, donor cultivation and stewardship, grant writing, and special events
• Strategic Planning- conduct feasibility studies, design and develop fund development and communication plans, and action plans
• Capacity Building- conduct needs assessments, assess nonprofit effectiveness, and organizational growth
• Board Development and Governance- board recruitment, board facilitation, training and retreats, and succession planning.

SPARK also provides leadership coaching to motivate and inspires new and existing leaders, and works with organizational leaders to teach them how to be more effective and create and build a culture of fundraising. They focus on building confidence with staff and board. They coach leadership staff and board members to understand the importance of mission, impact and purpose in the work that is so near and dear to them.

SPARK Philanthropy is unique in that it doesn’t just help organizations raise money. They support organizations by identifying areas of opportunities for sustainable growth starting with cultivating donors. They focus on the entire philanthropic landscape including philanthropic culture when working with nonprofits, making sure their foundation is strong so that they can thrive for years to come.
