Since the end of the school year is near, now is the time to start looking for Cincinnati summer camps. Structured activities in the summer allow kids to make friends outside of school, gain more self-confidence, manage new situations and develop a sense of independence. These learned skills have been known to help children with their schoolwork and other social situations.

Great Parks of Hamilton County Nature Camps

The Great Parks of Hamilton County hosts summer camps for all children focused on nature, adventure, farm life and horseback riding! Camps are held in various Great Parks across the Cincinnati area, including Sharon Woods, Winton Woods and Lake Isabella. All camps offer a drop-off unless otherwise indicated. Whole Again Summer Enrichment Program

This program partners with local churches and other non-profit organizations to provide meals to at risk youth during their summer break from school. Colerain Township Free Day Camp

The program will be offered at no cost to residents and will include games, sporting activities and craft activities as well as occasional field trips. The program would accommodate up to 75 Colerain youth. Four times during the summer the children are given the opportunity to participate in a field trip to a near-by attraction in Hamilton County or surrounding counties. The children who participate must purchase a $7 Colerain Parks T-shirt for identification purposes. Additional fees are generally involved in the field trips to cover such things as admission costs. Cincinnati, Ohio will host nine weeks of technology summer day camps for kids 7-14 years old. Camps will be taught by Classroom Antics across several Cincinnati suburbs. Each summer camp is a week-long and will run for 3 hours a day. Children attending a full-day (both a morning and afternoon session) may stay and eat lunch with instructors and other full-day campers (bring a sack lunch). Blossom STEM Camp for Girls

At Blossom, we utilize an integrated learning approach which mixes Montessori style peer-to-peer learning, traditional instructor interaction and hands-on experiences. The ability to code is arguably second only to reading as the most important skill to have in our emerging economy. At the Jamelle Elliott Basketball Camp, we stress the FUN-damentals of basketball an approach we have found is appealing to a wide range of campers from someone new to the game to the most serious of players. Each day campers will be instructed by the University of Cincinnati Women’s Basketball Players and staff, making friends/memories that last a lifetime, and best of all playing the game they love. Each day campers will be provided with lunch at one of our university cafeteria and a Jamelle Elliott camp t-shirt. Here, campers will disconnect from technology and reconnect with their spiritual selves. Camper are instructed to turn in cell phones at the beginning of their stay. The phone will be returned to them at the end. Applications for camp scholarships are being accepted until May 28. Young Women Writing for a Change

Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Full-Day Camps) or 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm. (Half-Day Camps)

Our camps use the art of writing and other modes of artistic expression (movement, crafts) to enhance self-esteem and build skills in creative self-expression. Programs are designed to help strengthen girls’ authentic voices, develop their ability to speak out through writing and direct interaction, and deepen their belief in their own creative intelligence. Camp Joy Police/Youth Live-In
Ages: 10 – 12
Dates: June 4 – 8
Cost: $25
Hours: Overnight

This residential camp is in partnership with the Cincinnati Police Department. Youth live in the cabins with officers and camp counselors, participate in traditional camp activities, watch special unit presentations (such as the SWAT & K9 teams), and learn about police work. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Theatre Summer Camp
Ages: 10 – 18
Dates: June 11 – July 27
Cost: $275 and up/ per week

Calling all playwrights and storytellers! If you love telling tales, making up stories, and creating new worlds, then come check out our Choose Your Own Adventure. Here you will find classes for comedy and clowning, monsters and magic and chills and thrills and sleuths and spies. UC DAAP Day Camps

DAAPcamps are week-long immersions for high school and middle school students to explore their creative passion areas and expand their skills in specific artistic disciplines. Set on the University of Cincinnati’s architecturally renown campus and supervised by the faculty and staff at the globally recognized College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, each day at camp includes time spent on studio projects, field trips and social activities for the perfect mix of practice and inspiration. Financial aid is set aside for DAAPcampers with demonstrated need. To apply for financial aid, the student will need to provide their high school transcript, letter of recommendation, 750-word essay, the financial form, plus a statement of the family’s financial need. Great Oaks Summer Career Camps

Great Oaks Campus Career Camps allows 8th and 9th graders to explore different career fields in hopes of finding their passion or career path. These fields include aviation maintenance, car and truck mechanics, cosmetology, culinary and more! These camps are spread out over four campuses; Diamond Oaks, Laurel Oaks, Scarlet Oaks and Live Oaks. For more information, call 513-771-8840.

In DAAPcamps High School Residential Pre-College Camps you’ll spend the week living on campus while putting your ideas to work on immersive projects, exploring Cincinnati’s creative community, and forging the unforgettable friendships you can only find in the studio. Classes are taught by DAAP faculty, professional guests and visiting artists, and are also staffed with current DAAP students as assistants. An exhibit and celebration culminate the camp on Saturday morning.
