Dr. Michael Eric Dyson is the keynote speaker of the Collective Empowerment Group Awards.

The Cincinnati Chapter of the Collective Empowerment Group (CEG) will present its 2019 Business Excellence Awards Gala. Timothy Elsbrock, Regional President and Senior Vice President of Fifth Third Bank serves as this year’s Honorary Chair and Fifth Third Bank is the Gala’s Title Investor Sponsor. The Business Excellence Awards Gala is the annual major fundraiser for CEG to recognize local business.


The keynote speaker will be Renowned Scholar, Author, Ordained Minister and Political/Cultural Analyst (MSNBC and CNN) Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. He is a Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University and has authored or edited more than twenty books dealing with subjects such as Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., Marvin Gaye, Nas’s debut album Illmatic, Bill Cosby, Tupac Shakur, and Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Dyson will be speaking from this year’s theme: “Celebrating a Decade of MarketPlace and Ministry: Just Can’t Tell It All”.


Individual tickets are $100. Table of Ten tickets is $1000. Patron tickets are $150.00 per person and include reserved seating, listing in the program book, and an invitation to President’s Reception. Patron Table tickets for ten are $1500. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the business awards which spotlights individuals and companies that have demonstrated consistent growth, unique vision, innovation and support of Cincinnati’s economy and the small and minority business community.  The awards will recognize the Top Five Businesses of the Year based on annual sales for 2018 along with other corporate, small business and church awards. This year, CEG will also recognize and honor, Jim Clingman and Rev. Tracy Ventus of New Mission Baptist Church. Both are the co-founders of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Collective Empowerment Group.


The 2019 CEG Business Excellence Awards Gala is equal parts ceremony, celebration and entertainment. This year’s musical entertainment is local R&B Band, 2nd Wind and will feature the Rhythmic Sounds of New J under the direction of A. Michael Cunningham.


The Collective Empowerment Group is a non-profit organization whose mission is to establish partnerships with churches, businesses and financial institutions that impact and empower the community. Programs and services offered by CEG are designed to (1) assist small business on their growth and development and, (2) assist the community as it relates to preparation for home ownership, Adopt-a-School and personal financial literacy.
