32nd Annual Cincinnati Black Family Reunion (2020)

The 2020 Cincinnati Black Family Reunion returns this year with a hybrid event structure adapted for COVID-19 safety protocols. UC Health returns as the presenting sponsor and the theme for the event is “Faithful and Fearless.” A combination of virtual events and a call-to-action day at Sawyer Point make up this year’s celebration.
The event is set for Aug. 13-16, 2020. Cincinnati’s Black Family Reunion event is the last- remaining in the country. This year’s schedule of events will include:
Virtual events- the BFR Speaker Series on Thursday, Aug. 13th featuring Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant at 7:00 p.m. ET, Heritage Breakfast keynote at 11 a.m. ET on Friday, Aug. 14th featuring Dr. O’dell Owens, a Gospel concert Friday, Aug. 14th at 7 p.m. ET featuring Kierra Sheard, an Urban concert featuring Kenny Lattimore on Saturday, Aug. 15th at 7 p.m., and Sunday worship service featuring Pastor John Gray on Sunday, Aug. 16th at 12 p.m. The entire weekend is free and all virtual events can be attended via the Black Family Reunion Website at www.myblackfamilyreunion.org.
Call-to-Action Day- Saturday’s (Aug. 15) focus at Sawyer Point will be to provide access to COVID testing for African-Americans, voter registration, a school supply giveaway, mask and hand sanitizer giveaways and food box giveaways. Giveaway items can be secured via contactless pickup. COVID-19 safety procedures and protocols will be followed.
The BFR team will be honoring Jesse and Iris Roley and family as this year’s BFR Family of the Year.
Cincinnati’s Black Family Reunion was inaugurated in 1989 by Dr. Dorothy Height, who was president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) at the time.
