Ignite your inner STEAM abilities at the Read Across Madisonville 2020 Family Literacy Night.
If you are seeking an educational, yet entertaining, family-friendly event, Read Across Madisonville STEAM Family Literacy Night may be the solution. John P. Parker Elementary School, Rising Stars of America, and the Madisonville Education & Assistance Center (MEAC) are teaming up to provide an engaging experience for the whole family. Along with fun activities, Dr. Whitney Gaskins will be the keynote speaker.
The event will include the following:
- Live performance by Suzuki Collaborative of Cincinnati
- After Glow Session with Dr. Whitney Gaskins
- Interactive STEAM activity stations
- Raffles and giveaways
- Light dinner
Celebrate to create an atmosphere that will spark student interest in STEAM at an early age with the primary goal of cultivating a love for reading and writing, building strong family and school connections, and strengthening community relationships. About Dr. Whitney Gaskins
Dr. Gaskins is the Assistant Dean of Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement. Also, she is the only African-American female currently teaching in the faculty of the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science. In 2009, she founded The Gaskins Foundation, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to educate and empower the African American community. Recently, she launched the free Cincinnati STEMu-lates year-round K-12 program, to introduce more students to math and science.
