Annual Bethune Height Recognition Breakfast

Attend the Annual Bethune Height Recognition Breakfast with the National Council Negro Women at the Oscar Event Center at Jungle Jim’s on May 9.

The 31st Bethune Height Recognition Breakfast will be held under the theme “Heights of Excellence, Honoring Legacy, Lifting Leaders,” celebrating the vision, dedication, and leadership inspired by founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Dr. Jeff Menzise, a globally recognized psychologist and dynamic speaker, brings powerful insight, cultural awareness, and a passion for uplifting communities as the keynote speaker.

This milestone event will recognize distinguished community members in the following categories:

  • Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
  • Social Justice
  • Health Equity
  • S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Education
  • Community Service

Guests will enjoy a curated breakfast experience designed to blend fellowship, celebration, and purpose. The program features dynamic speakers, uplifting performances, unique vendors, and meaningful reflections that showcase the power of service‑driven leadership. This annual gathering brings together civic leaders, partners, families, and supporters committed to strengthening and empowering Black women and the communities they serve. Doors open at 9:00 am for registration and vending.

Admission to the Annual Bethune Height Recognition Breakfast is $100 per person.

About Dr. Jeff Menzise, PH.D

Current Role

He is an associate professor with the Morgan State University Institute for Urban Research and the immediate past president of The Association of Black Psychologists, Washington DC Chapter. He currently serves on the board for Cincinnati’s Memorial Hall.

Key Affiliations

Collaborating with Taraji P. Henson and The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, including co-hosting a Town Hall Meeting on mental health access, and serving on her advisory council.

Social Justice

He championed racial reconciliation and healing as the former Assistant Director of Race Relations Institute at Fisk University and has developed and implemented DEI works for various organizations.

Consulting and Global Work

Serving as a consultant to organizations in his native Cincinnati, Ohio, and working with Ministries of Education in the Caribbean and West Africa on professional development and mental health staff training.

About Special Guest Synovia Moss

CEO of Moss Consulting & Management Group, excels in leading large-scale community initiatives to improve health in communities of color. With over 20 years of expertise in marketing, strategic planning, and advocacy, she currently manages the Good Health Women’s Immunization Networks, reaching over 4.5 million African Americans.

Synovia’s role as global Strategic Advisor for the Brain Matters Early Learning Network and her leadership in the Child Advancement Network highlight her ability to translate science into impactful programs.

Driven by faith, family, and community, Synovia champions women’s and children’s health equity. Her roles include serving on Milwaukee’s Mayor’s Task Force on Early Care, Pastors United board, and as Chair of Health Equity for Wisconsin’s Immunization coalition.

As an influencer, she leads by example, presiding over the NCNW Milwaukee Section and co-chairing the NCNW National Health Equity Covid-19 Sub-committee. Synovia holds a BA in Political Science and an MA in Public.
