About the Artist
New York native Aries Spears has been a force in comedy since the age of 14. Known for his razor-sharp wit, undeniable charisma, and ferociously aggressive comedic style, Aries has earned critical acclaim, industry respect, and a relentless touring schedule. From his time as a standout cast member on Fox’s MADtv to starring roles in feature films, appearances on national talk shows, and consistently selling out venues across the country, his reach is undeniable. His impact extends beyond the stage, with over three million spins on Pandora and a podcast recognized as one of the “must-listen” shows in the U.S.
Most recently, Aries guest-starred on CNN’s hit 2023 docuseries See It Loud, a summer series exploring the history of Black television. The series featured an all-star lineup including Amanda Seales, Da’Vinchi, Debbie Allen, Deon Cole, Desus & Mero, Gabrielle Union, Jimmie Walker, Judge Greg Mathis, Kevin Frazier, Loni Love, Lynn Whitfield, Mo’Nique, Tatyana Ali, Tisha Campbell, Vivica A. Fox, and more.
As a principal cast member on MADtv from Seasons 3 through 10, Aries brought a fresh edge to the already bold sketch series. His long list of recurring characters includes Belma Buttons, Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Mike Tyson, Walter (Crackheads), Reggie the Eracist, Dollar Bill Montgomery, Shaquille O’Neal, the Klumps, Michael Jackson, Sisqó, Evander Holyfield, El Diablo Negro, and many more. His spot-on impersonations of icons like James Brown, Al Pacino, and his childhood hero Eddie Murphy became fan favorites. The Aries-created sketch “Talkin’ American” went on to become MADtv’s most popular recurring bit.
Aries’ success extends to film as well. At just 17, after being discovered in a comedy club, he landed a role in Home of Angels, which led to a starring role opposite John Leguizamo in The Pest, followed by his memorable turn as Cuba Gooding Jr.’s brother in Jerry Maguire. He is currently developing a feature film based on an original MADtv character, along with a thriller centered on a young Black man immersed in hip-hop culture.
Deeply connected to his African roots, Aries is actively involved in charitable work, including organizations that support abused women. While grateful for his accomplishments, Aries Spears shows no signs of slowing down.
