Novelist Nnedi Okorafor Reading

Novelist Nnedi Okorafor is for a special reading and personal book signing.
Come out for an evening with an award-winning novelist whose imagination the New York Times described as “stunning.” Cincinnati native Nnedi Okorafor writes African-based science fiction, fantasy and magical realism for both children and adults. She is known for weaving African culture and folklore into creative, evocative settings with memorable characters. She also is the author of the Black Panther comics from Marvel Comics and authored a spinoff graphic novel, Wakanda Forever.
“An Evening with Nnedi Okorafor” will be in the Reading Garden Lounge of the Main Library. A book signing follows the presentation. Books will be available for purchase courtesy of Joseph-Beth Booksellers.
Tickets to the presentation are $5 and are limited to four tickets per person. This ticket does not include reserved seating. A limited number of tickets are also available for a special pre-event reception. This $100 ticket includes:
- A copy of Binti: The Complete Trilogy, with a signed book plate
- The opportunity to meet Nnedi Okorafor
- Light appetizers and drinks
- Reserved seating at the event

About Nnedi Okorafor
Cincinnati-born Nnedi Okorafor is a Nigerian-American writer of fantasy, science fiction, and magical realism for both children and adults. Okorafor holds a master’s degree in journalism from Michigan State as well as a master’s degree and Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is a 2001 graduate of the Clarion Writers Workshop in Lansing, Michigan. Okorafor has won numerous writing awards including the World Fantasy Award, the Nebula Award, the Hugo Award, the Macmillan Writers’ Prize for Africa, and the Children’s Africana Book Award. She currently lives in Illinois, with her family.
