About the Madisonville Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation:

The Madisonville Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (MCURC) is a nonprofit community development corporation that began in 1975.  We are in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Madisonville, about 10 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati. MCURC was originally created to develop the land that is now occupied by Coca-Cola, near Interstate 71. Once that project was complete, MCURC turned its attention toward the rest of the neighborhood.

For 38 years, MCURC was a volunteer organization that was run by the Board of Directors. The focus was on real estate deals, mostly involving the business district at Madison & Whetsel and the rehabilitation of single-family homes.

In 2013, both the City of Cincinnati and the area’s major non-profit funders recognized that Madisonville was ready to take the next step. MCURC had just finished leading the neighborhood in a Quality-of-Life Planning process to determine what Madisonville wanted to become in the future. Building on that success, MCURC, with the help of the city and these funders, was able to hire staff. Today MCURC is busy working on comprehensively making Madisonville an even better place.
