About Earl Sweatshirt
Earl Sweatshirt is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer known for his intricate lyricism and deeply introspective style. Born Thebe Neruda Kgositsile on February 24, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, he is the son of South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He first rose to prominence as a member of the hip-hop collective Odd Future, gaining attention for his dark, complex verses at a young age. His early success was interrupted when he was sent to a boarding school in Samoa, temporarily stepping away from the spotlight.
After returning, Earl Sweatshirt released his debut studio album Doris in 2013, which was met with critical acclaim and showcased his growth as an artist. He continued to evolve with projects like I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, and Some Rap Songs, embracing a more abstract and experimental sound. His music often explores themes of identity, grief, and mental health, resonating with listeners who appreciate depth and authenticity. Over time, Earl has established himself as one of the most respected and innovative voices in alternative hip-hop.
