This new Cincinnati literacy program invites children K-5 to read African American literature.
Cincinnati literacy program Favor Your Child Educational Services presents a FREE and OPEN Invitation to parents and adults to attend an discussion session to receive information, ask questions and register their child for a Reading Program that uses African-American Literature to teach reading strategies.
Favor Your Child Educational Services, a new African-American female owned and operated business located in the Cincinnati area is hosting its first annual Open Invitation session to parents and adults with children in grades (K-5). This will be a (6) week-long program that will require an attendance commitment from everyone!
This summer they are going to deliver their first Summer Literacy Learning Sessions designed for learners that struggled to learn how to read, struggle with phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension. They will provide one-to-one instructional sessions and small group instructional sessions.
The purpose of the “OPEN INVITATION SESSION” is to have a dialogue with parents and adults about the Summer Sessions and to share information, answer questions and register students for this first-time program. They will be using African-American to teach and learn reading comprehension strategies. Reading African-American literature is not a new idea…it’s just that reading African-American literature to teach and learn reading strategies is not widely done.
The summer sessions are not designed to take the place of summer all day camps. The goal of the Summer Literacy Learning Sessions will be to encourage young learners and their parents to read African-American literature, to engage young learners in Literacy Learning activities that are fun, to enhance reading skills that need re-teaching and re-learning and to empower young learners to think for themselves! They want young learners to know that there is power in knowing how to read and practicing their power will support them as they navigate through their life journeys and become leader producers of their destinies!
There are young learners that don’t seem to know a great deal about their rich and impressive story and genre collections. This summer they will use short stories, books, and films to help kids learn about the main idea, details, sequence order, making predictions, cause and effect and drawing conclusions. They will also engage in review learning of word structures like (nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives. Let’s Work Together to Teach and Watch our Kids Learn.
Remember, this Cincinnati literacy program is FREE and open to the public. Come learn more about it.
