I Am My Own Wife Play

February 20, 2027 March 21, 2027

Playhouse in the Park

Starting at $39

i am my own wife

See I Am My Own Wife at Playhouse in the Park from February 20 through March 21

Based on a true story and inspired by interviews conducted by the playwright, I Am My Own Wife is the fascinating tale of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, an elegant and eccentric German trans woman who, against all odds, managed to survive the Nazis during World War II and the repressive Communist regime that followed. One actor gives a tour-de-force performance of over 30 roles, including the controversial figure herself and the American writer who becomes intrigued by her. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, this profound story of survival is both a record of her life, and an examination of how and why we preserve histories that have been purposefully destroyed or hidden away out of necessity.

ADVISORY

I Am My Own Wife is recommended for older teenage and adult audiences. The story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf explores LGBTQIA+ identity and culture and includes violence, oppression, abuse, betrayal and some strong language.

Theatre Location

Rosenthal Shelterhouse Theatre

Tickets to I Am My Own Wife

Tickets to I Am My Own Wife start at $39.

Parking

Convenient parking is available in the Playhouse garage and can be purchased in advance by calling the Box Office at 513-421-3888 or as an add-on when you purchase tickets online. This is strongly recommended as parking may be sold out on the day of the show, and parking space is extremely limited in Mt. Adams. Advanced garage parking costs $15, except in December when it is $20. Drive-up garage parking is $20 (if available).

If you prefer to find free parking on surrounding streets, please allow plenty of extra time. Very limited free parking is available (where marked) on streets surrounding the Playhouse. Eden Park officially closes at 10 p.m. As a grace period to the Playhouse and its patrons, the police will not ticket vehicles until one half-hour following the end of a performance.
