About the Okoto Kekere Program

Okoto Kekere is Bi-Okoto’s premier youth training program. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 enter a structured path of West African dance, drumming, theatre, language, and cultural education — guided by professional Teaching and Performing Artists who have carried this work for decades.

Students don’t simply rehearse choreography. They learn the regions, the peoples, and the stories behind each rhythm. They practice discipline through Sinte, courage through Agbeko, identity through Ẹ Sìn Mí d’Áfríkà. And they grow — visibly — into confident young artists who carry their culture into their schools, their homes, and their futures.

Graduates of Okoto Kekere are groomed to join Bi-Okoto’s second company pipeline, preparing them for paid work as Teaching and Performing Artists.
