Attend On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History at Heritage Village Museum on June 6.

Heritage Village Museum and The Voice of Black Cincinnati will host On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Heritage Village Museum in Sharon Woods Park. This event celebrates the lives and contributions of Black Cincinnatians from the city’s chartering in 1788 to the end of World War I in 1919.

  • Quilting History and Demonstration

  • Children’s Games
  • Historic Interpreters in Period Clothes
  • African Drummers
  • Food Trucks and Vendors

Admission to On Freedom’s Doorstep: A Celebration of Cincinnati Black History

Advance online tickets will be available for $8 per person closer to the event. At the door admission is $10 per adult ages 12-64. Adults ages 65+, children ages 4-11, and SNAP beneficiaries with identification are $5. Heritage Village Museum members and all children under 3 are free.

Heritage Village Museum Venue Details

Parking

Heritage Village Museum is located inside Sharon Woods Park. A Hamilton County GreatParks parking pass may be required. (They may be purchased at the park gate. They offer both a year-long sticker option and a one-day option. You can find details on their website: Annual Motor Vehicle Permit | Great Parks of Hamilton County )

The village is located behind the Sharon Centre. There is plenty of parking in the Sharon Centre lot.

Physical Accessibility

  • Accessible parking and drop-off locations can be provided upon request. Please call 513-563-9484 to arrange this service.
  • A wheelchair can be provided upon request. Please ask a staff member or volunteer.
  • Benches are located outside of most buildings.
  • The pathway at Heritage Village Museum is compacted gravel. Most wheelchairs, strollers, wagons, etc. will handle this surface. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Historic Southwest Ohio (HSO) operates the Heritage Village Museum and Educational Center. This private, non-profit organization owns and operates the buildings and collections of the Heritage Village Museum and Educational Center, a picturesque gathering of 13 authentic historical buildings that represent various aspects of family life during the 1800s. These buildings include historic homes, a train station, a doctor’s office, a general store, a church, and a schoolhouse.
