About Preservation Hall Jazz Band
The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, founded in 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of the most celebrated ensembles keeping the rich traditions of New Orleans jazz alive. Established by Allan and Sandra Jaffe, the band was created to preserve and protect the authentic sound of traditional jazz when the genre was at risk of fading from the city’s cultural life. Over the decades, the group has become an institution, performing at its historic home venue, Preservation Hall in the French Quarter, and on tours across the globe.
Known for blending tradition with innovation, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has collaborated with various artists, from Louis Armstrong to modern musicians like Elvis Costello and the Foo Fighters. Parking
