One of the most celebrated Broadway plays in recent years, winning both the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize, Purpose is a riveting and hilarious new drama that lays bare the influential Jasper family, led by a renowned Civil Rights leader and his formidable wife. When their adult sons return home to celebrate their mother’s birthday, the evening’s polite façade quickly unravels and ignites long-simmering tensions. By the end of the night, accusations fly, and secrets are laid bare. The Jaspers are forced into a reckoning with their faith, their legacy, and whether the purpose they’ve preached is one they’ve truly lived.
ADVISORY
Purpose is recommended for older teenage and adult audiences. Strong language, including the use of the n-word, is used as family secrets from both the past and present collide around mature themes and topics, including racism, identity, mental health, suicide, and incarceration.

Playhouse in the Park Venue Details
Parking
Convenient parking is available in the Playhouse garage and can be purchased in advance by calling the Box Office at 513-421-3888 or as an add-on when you purchase tickets online. This is strongly recommended as parking may be sold out on the day of the show, and parking space is extremely limited in Mt. Adams. Advanced garage parking costs $15, except in December when it is $20. Drive-up garage parking is $20 (if available).
If you prefer to find free parking on surrounding streets, please allow plenty of extra time. Very limited free parking is available (where marked) on streets surrounding the Playhouse. Eden Park officially closes at 10 p.m. As a grace period to the Playhouse and its patrons, the police will not ticket vehicles until one half-hour following the end of a performance.
