Third Annual Read Across Madisonville Family Traditions: Cultivating a Culture of Literacy
Cultivating a Love for Reading.
Join us as we celebrate literacy! Read Across Madisonville is geared towards families and children of all ages. 3rd Annual Read Across Madisonville Family Traditions: Cultivating a Culture of Literacy Presented by John P. Parker Elementary School, Rising Stars of America, Cincinnati Public School District & MEAC.
Although the event is free, online registration is required. This family fun celebration will include activity stations, raffles, giveaways, light refreshments and so much more! You don’t want to miss this! The event is free and open to the public.
The annual community-wide celebration showcases the importance of family literacy. The theme this year is “Family Traditions: Cultivating a Culture of Literacy” which focuses on motivating children and their families to get excited about reading and spending quality time together. With this in mind, John P. Parker Elementary School are encouraging their students to participate in a reading competition with the aim of spicing up literature to help foster a deep love for reading.
We are so excited to have Cheryl Wills as our keynote speaker. Cheryl is an author, distinguished speaker, a nationally recognized award-winning television personality for Spectrum News’ flagship national news network, New York 1 News, headquartered in New York City.
There will be a live performance by Suzuki Collaborative of Cincinnati, and a After Glow session with Cheryl Wills immediately following the main event. The Master of Ceremonies will be Hamilton County Municipal Court, Judge Fanon Rucker.

For more than 30 years, MEAC has continued to provide vital services to assist individuals and families who reside in the Madisonville and surrounding communities. MEAC’s activities are centered on providing emergency assistance in the form of food, clothing, rent and utility assistance for our neighbors in need. MEAC also provides programs to support self-sufficiency. These programs include early childhood and adult literacy, financial/life coaching and job training, placement and retention through our partnership with Cincinnati Works.
