See Welcoming Echoes and A Playwright’s Potpourri at Aronoff Center for the Arts on February 10 as part of the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative New Voices Series.
On February 10, Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative presents two compelling evenings of theatre that explore justice, connection, and the unexpected moments that shape us. Welcoming Echoes by Paul Bergman offers a moving portrait of Civil Rights icon John Lewis, while Roger Collins’s A Playwright’s Potpourri delivers four sharp, witty ten-minute plays that span trains, music, theology—and a good cup of coffee.
Welcoming Echoes, a one-act play by Paul Bergman
Welcoming Echoes follows John Lewis from his youthful days to his gradual “justice-awakening” and full embrace of the “Beloved Community.” The words of Lewis, the power of his commitment to Civil rights and non-violence, the poignancy of painful reversals, and the glory of his later years entwine in a tapestry of a dynamic life.
About Paul Bergman
Paul is a retired professional who has long had a fascination with history and how certain people were pivotal in shaping it. In particular, the struggle for human rights rings its bell with a clarion call to awareness. Paul believes stories from the past can instruct us, provide a sense of the “Why?”, and inspire us to act.
