Fasten your seat belts and experience On the Road, a Zvidance Cincinnati dance show, at the Aronoff Center.
The Zvidance Cincinnati dance show is a multi-media collaboration of contemporary dance and video design, utilizing Jack Kerouac’s seminal book On the Road. The Contemporary Dance Theatre will present the show on October 26-27th at the Aronoff Center.
Tickets range from $29 – $34. Also, student discount tickets are available for $24. All tickets are available online or at the Aronoff Center box office. The box office is located at 650 Walnut Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
For the initiation of the creative process, Zvi gave an invitation to four dancers and the Video Artist Josh Higgason to join on a 2-week artistic research cross-country trip from New York to San Francisco, retracing Kerouac’s first trip to the west, as described in On The Road.
Bring your questions and comments to Zvi Gotheiner and company members of ZviDance after each show, and hear their responses.
ZviDance brings its audiences a passionate vision of community in a modern age. A collaborative alliance among artists, the company’s stirring work celebrates diversity by melding various movement genres into the distinct dance vocabulary constantly evolving and refusing to succumb to dialectics of the medium. ZviDance has tour experience across North America, and abroad in Germany, Poland, Russia, Israel, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Japan.
About On the Road
On occasion, the team would stop the car and dance/improvise on the road or in random locations near the road, videoing the process. This multi-media work began from the material that the team collected during this trip.
Also, the company is a collaborative model of creation, involving the ensemble and designers from the initial research phase. It constantly strives to push the methodology and ethics of a creative process within an interdisciplinary format.
