Behavior Support Specialist

Job Description

A typical day in the life of a Behavior Support Supervisor involves supervising and supporting a portion of the Behavior Support Team’s personnel. This includes delivering constructive feedback, providing guidance, troubleshooting challenges, and assisting in specific situations.

Additionally, the Behavior Support Supervisor will collaborate with their fellow Behavior Support Supervisor (there will be two in this department) in leadership activities and engaging with departmental management.

While the position is predominantly remote, occasional travel to meetings, office visits, and community event participation may be necessary. The county will provide a laptop and iPhone to complete the work.

The primary objective of the behavior support supervisor is to assist the behavior support team in offering comprehensive and consultative support aimed at helping individuals served to lead fulfilling lives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervises Behavior Support Specialists.
  • Consult with and assist Behavior Support Specialists, Service and Support Administration staff, additional agency staff, parents, guardians, and agency administrators regarding Ohio.
  • Administrative Code Rule that addresses restrictive measures.
  • Assists Behavior Support Supervisor with tasks to include but not limited to Human Rights
  • Committee preparations, Behavior Rate, Add On (BAO) maintenance and guidance,
  • Consultative Supports related tasks, Hamilton County Board of Developmental Disabilities report information, and restrictive measure Human Rights Committee reviews.
  • Assists Behavior Support Supervisor with all trauma-informed care-related activities, including facilitating biographical timelines with behavior support staff, attending regional trainings, conducting training, and monitoring strategies in place for those served.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, special education, or closely related field; master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of paid, full-time (or the equivalent of) writing and implementing behavioral support/risk management strategies are required.
  • Case management experience or related work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the educational placement process is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background checks and driver abstract checks.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and an appreciation for the work behind providing social services to the community.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 36.25-hour work week, full-time role. Salary position paid bi-weekly
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work-from-home options
  • One week of paid vacation and 15 sick days immediately allocated upon hire. Three personal days are provided per year, with the employee’s start date. Starting vacation accrual of 3 weeks per year. Sick time accrued 15 days per year after the first year of employment with an unlimited accrual.
  • The starting salary range is determined by a formula accounting for years of experience: $68,800.00 (base rate) to $86,000.00 (10 years of experience performing this same job or job with primarily the same duties.)
