Career Coach and Navigator

Job Description

The position facilitates the student work experience process, including career navigation, success coaching, talent and skill assessment, and connection with employers.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides students with career planning and employment opportunities and coaches students through recruiting.
  • Counsels and advises students and recent alums individually and in groups about career exploration, self-assessment, and career decisions. This includes individualized plans for exploration, engagement, and employment and integrating talent and skill interest assessment into the student coaching process (You Science).
  • Serve as an advisor and success coach to apprenticeship and work-based learning students and employer-sponsored enrollment programs such as Amazon Career Choice.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for on-campus recruiting activities.
  • Manage student software experience such as Handshake.
  • Delivers presentations and workshops for academic departments and student organizations to increase student interest in employee recruiting programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three years experience.
  • Presentation and training of adult skills, organization, planning, and project management.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing themself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).

Preferred

  • Master’s degree or equivalent and five years experience.
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
