Job Summary

Gateway Community & Technical College seeks an exceptional and energetic individual as an instructor in our Computer Information Technology (CIT) program. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to support enrollment growth, build relationships/partnerships with businesses and industries, and promote the CIT program in the Northern Kentucky area.

The ideal candidate must be willing to set standards of excellence in the industry and maintain continuous contact with the area business and industry community to ensure Gateway remains current with job entry requirements, CIT technology trends, and equipment.

Job Duties:

Teach assigned introductory, cloud computing, and network administration courses.
Advise computer information technology students in the cloud computing technology and network administration tracks.
Facilitate instruction using multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online); post and maintain office hours.
Participate in the assessment of course and program student learning outcomes.
Assist in departmental functions, including lab maintenance, equipment inventory, attending advisory committee meetings, maintaining relations with industry partners, and prospective student recruitment activities.
Maintain industry certifications to teach assigned courses.
Participate in the life of the college through internal service opportunities.
Represent the college through external service opportunities in the community. Engage in ongoing professional development; and assume leadership roles where appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to teach introductory information technology and network administration courses within the program, including but not limited to: CIT 105 Introduction to Computers, CIT 111 Hardware and Software, CIT 120 Computational Thinking, CIT 160 Introduction to Networking Concepts / CIT 167 Routing and Switching, CIT 201 Information Storage Management, CIT 206 Amazon Web Services Practitioner, and CIT 207 Amazon Web Services Architecting.

The qualified faculty member is eligible to serve as Computer Information Technology Program Coordinator and act as the department leader, working closely with the Dean of Business, IT, and Professional Studies in guiding this growing program. The Program Coordinator provides leadership and guidance to the faculty leads over the four tracks in the program: Network Administration, Security, Programming, and Cloud Computing Technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer information technology, information technology, or a substantially related field.
2 years experience in cloud computing and network administration.
Current industry certifications (AWS or Microsoft Azure) or willingness to obtain industry certifications.

Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer information technology, information technology, or a substantially related field.
3–5 years experience in cloud computing/network administration (enterprise networks).
Experience with Linux.
Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
