Academic Support & Engagement Coordinator

Job Description

The Coordinator of Academic Support & Engagement executes programming that facilitates students’ academic success, engagement, and leadership. This position coordinator is responsible for the following programs: tutoring, student engagement, and leadership.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, expand, and coordinate the college’s academic support services, including tutoring, supplemental instruction, writing labs, and math labs.
  • Supervise tutors and supplemental instruction leaders to ensure the quality of services.
  • Evaluate and assess tutoring program effectiveness, recommending updates to programs, guidelines, and procedures, and looking at new and innovative ways to provide student services.
  • Develop and facilitate student engagement programming that encompasses student co-curricular programming, student organizations, and student leadership, which builds a supportive & connected community for our students.
  • Develop and evaluate student leadership programming.
  • Participates in the college’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) planning and leadership activities, including co-leading the SEM implementation team, leading one of the SEM sub-teams, and being a member of our SEM leadership team.
  • Maintains department’s Procard.
  • Other duties as assigned.




  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in academic support programming.
  • Knowledge of retention best practices.
  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing themself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).


  • Master’s degree or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
