Job Description

The Director of Information Systems at Hamilton County Juvenile Court is pivotal in leading the development and implementation processes within the Information Systems (IS) department. This includes coordinating IS activities to ensure network services and data availability, identifying security vulnerabilities, and strategically eliminating them.

The Director proactively stays abreast of industry trends, applies best practices, and oversees staff while managing budgets and timelines.

Work Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Work Location: Judges Office, 800 Broadway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the IS department. Coordinating IS activities to ensure the availability of network services and data.
  • Identifying security vulnerabilities and eliminating them with strategic solutions, identifying future challenges in the IS landscape, and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively researches and understands the implications of industry trends and applies best practices.
  • Directs and supervises staff.
  • Establishes and manages appropriate performance measures.
  • Effectively addresses performance issues promptly.
  • Responsible for verifying compliance, maintaining vendor relationships, and upgrading hardware or software.
  • Closely monitors the budget and assigned timelines.
  • Facilitates financial acquisition of IS equipment and software required by the Court.
  • Researches products and companies and costs.
  • Recommends best solutions considering cost and benefit.
  • Directs and oversees vendor engagements, contracts, agreements, support agreements/licenses, and relationships as appropriate.
  • Represents the Court relative to IS matters in County meetings, groups, organizations, and in communication with other organizations as assigned.
  • Maintains familiarity with and follows Court/County/State procurement/vendor management policies and practices.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Employees work indoors and are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field and 5-10 years of progressive experience in computer support, help desk, or other computer support functions, including three years experience in a supervisory or project leader role.
  • Must possess networking and desktop certification (i.e., Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), or other related certification).
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain auto liability insurance.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in IT or Computer Science. More than three years of Court-related work experience.
  • Diversion, Equity, and Inclusion experience.

  • Must possess analytical skills/abilities, which include the ability to assess technical or personnel situations, seek multiple perspectives, and, if necessary, gather more information to arrive at appropriate solutions.
  • Must possess clerical/administrative skills/abilities, which include the ability to type well and maintain excellent organizational practices.
  • Must possess computer/technical skills/abilities, including extensive computer and network function knowledge.
  • Must possess project/process management skills/abilities, which include the ability to manage assigned projects and resources efficiently and within set timeframes.
  • Must possess written and oral communication skills/abilities, which include the ability to communicate appropriately, efficiently, and effectively with staff at all levels of the Court and contract personnel; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information regarding the status of a project to all relevant parties.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Salary: Salary Range $45 – $75 an hour.
