Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS) is a government social services agency established by state law. For over 50 years, HCDDS has provided support and services to thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities (DD). Each year, we support about 7,300 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout their lives by providing case management while funding services our community partners provide.

Introduction Specialist

Job Description

A typical day in the life of an Introduction Specialist involves serving as the primary contact for individuals seeking eligibility for Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services. You will take phone calls, emails, and walk-ins to guide individuals through eligibility. Also, you will send out intake packets, process, review, interpret, and upload medical records and other documentation related to developmental disability diagnoses. You will provide resources for those determined eligible and alternative resources for those determined ineligible for our services, as well as complete referrals to appropriate programs and services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with persons served; maintains positive relationships with the people in the community, parents, residential providers and their staff, and agency personnel; works cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a team member; demonstrates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Receives service requests and enters information into a database; coordinates completes, and disseminates information necessary for the eligibility process.
  • Reviews medical, psychological, and school records to confirm a qualifying developmental disability diagnosis.
  • Provides requested information and resources without regard to eligibility throughout the Introduction and eligibility process; maintains a working knowledge of available resources; communicates effectively with individuals served, parents and guardians, community agencies, and the general public.
  • Reviews, generates, and disseminates correspondence regarding the eligibility process.
  • Maintains accurate documentation to include coordination of services; maintains confidentiality.
  • Acts as backup to Introduction & Eligibility Coordinator for answering the Introduction &
  • Eligibility phone line and email.
  • Develops and demonstrates knowledge of new technology and other developments to maintain proficiency in job duties.
  • Participates in department, agency, local, and state committees or meetings as assigned; travels as needed to different work sites safely, efficiently, and effectively by agency procedures.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and reflects a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in psychology, special education, human services, or related fields.
  • Eligible for Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) Service & Support
  • Administration certification.
  • Knowledgeable with medical and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) terminology.
  • Familiarity with the Ohio Guardianship process.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in social services settings.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal relations skills.
  • A valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency meets the agency’s driver’s insurance requirements.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • 36.25-hour work week.
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work-from-home options.
  • Starting salary range: $45,240.00 (no similar experience) to $56,550.00 (10 years of experience performing this job with another agency.)
