Job Description

The United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager of Accounting and Operations to supervise the accounting for UWGC’s Donor Services Department and United Way of Greater Cincinnati Foundation (FDTN).

Manage four direct reports, including the Donor Services Manager (Finance), Senior Maintenance Technician (Property Services), Maintenance Technician, and Front Desk Receptionist.

Provide accounting support for Cincinnati Preschool Promise (CPP).


Job Responsibilities

UWGC Donor Services Accounting and Reporting Supervision

  • Provide financial oversight of the UWGC Donor Services function, including review of account reconciliations, journal entries, designation payouts, and internal and external reporting related to contributions, grants, payouts, and annual campaigns.
  • Prepare audit work papers and confirmation letters for external auditors regarding the UWGC Donor Services function. Respond to auditor inquiries and provide supporting documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure UWGC Pledge Management and Collection Policy compliance.
  • Oversee collection efforts, including research, communication, and reporting.
  • Review reports for the UWGC Finance Audit and Compliance Committee and attend meetings regularly.

FDTN Accounting and Reporting Supervision

  • Provide oversight for FDTN accounting. This includes preparing and/or reviewing accounting transactions, reconciling with appropriate external data and sub-ledgers, reporting, and analyzing variances and fluctuations.
  • Provide a review of Foundation Form 990.
  • Provide a review of bank reconciliation and various account reconciliations for UWGC.
  • Prepare audit work papers and confirmation letters for external auditors related to the FDTN function. Respond to auditor inquiries and provide supporting documentation.
  • Prepare reports for the FDTN Board.

CPP Accounting and Reporting

  • Review weekly accounts payable runs for CPP.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll journals for CPP.
  • Provide a review of bank reconciliation and various account reconciliations for CPP.

  • Attend CPP Finance Committee meetings.

Customer Relationship Management System

  • Serve as finance department lead for enhancements of CRM system.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the Donor Services Manager on the administration of the CRM system post-implementation.

Property Services

  • Manage property maintenance projects, including negotiating contracts with vendors.
  • Manage relationships with UWGC building tenants, including negotiating leases.
  • Manage Property Servies staff of three and any contracted staff to ensure timely and effective completion of property maintenance and upkeep projects.
  • Track the Property Services department’s adherence to the annual operating budget.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of operating reserve to maintain and repair significant assets on UWGC’s property.
  • Maintains asset replacement program and annual evaluation of reserve needs.



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce-CRM preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Word and intermediate Excel.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in general accounting.
  • Minimum two years of management experience.
