Job Description

As staff, you’ll spend your summer living on-site at Camps Libbey (Defiance, OH) and Whip Poor Will (Morrow, OH), providing camp programming for our Overnight Camp program helps girls choose their adventures while participating in hiking, swimming, creeking, and outdoor living skills, building teamwork, archery, nature activities, crafts, or working on badge or Girl Scout Journey activities.

 

Positions Available

  • Assistant Camp Director

    $90/day* – Assists the Camp Director in developing, implementing, evaluating, and administrating the council’s Resident Camp program. Applicants must be 21 or older and have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Program Director

    $75/day* Manages the program staff and assists in planning and implementing camp program activities and events. Applicants must be 21 or older and have a valid Driver’s License. Adventure Challenge Education and Archery Training are provided.

  • Counselor In Training Director

    $75/day* Manages the Counselor In Training and Junior Counselor programs, including planning, organizing, and directing these programs. Applicants must be 21 or older and have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Waterfront Director

    $75/day* Manages the physical operation of the waterfront equipment and facilities (pools and lakes). Applicants must be 21 or older and have a valid Driver’s License. Waterfront Lifeguard and Small Craft training are provided.

  • Business Manager

    $75/day* Manages the business operations, including purchasing, campers’ record keeping, customer service, and financial records within the policies and procedures of the council. Applicants must be 21 or older and have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Inclusion Specialist

    $75/day* Provides communication with caregivers and support to campers whose needs warrant extra care and attention due to behavior, health (mental or physical), and life circumstances. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Trip and Travel Specialist

    $75/day* Assists in planning, managing, and implementing the travel program and related equipment needs. Applicants must be 18 or older and have a valid Driver’s License.

  • Adventure Challenge Education Specialist

    $75/day* Develops and delivers adventure challenge activities and supports the sports and archery programs at the resident camp. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Adventure Challenge Education and Archery Training are provided.

  • Arts and Crafts Specialist

    $75/day* Develops and delivers arts and crafts activities for campers. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Nature Specialist

    $75/day* Develops and has nature and environmental activities for campers. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Unit Leader

    $73/day* Provides leadership to the camp unit, including the direct supervision and guidance of Unit Counselors and ensuring a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience by meeting camper needs and carrying out camp activities. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Unit Counselor

    $71/day* Provides a quality camp experience through the planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out of activities and guiding campers in their personal growth. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Unit Counselor and Lifeguard

    $72/day* Provides a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience through planning, teaching, coordinating, carrying out activities, and guiding campers in their personal growth. It also provides supervision and ensures a safe environment at the camp’s waterfront activities. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Lifeguarding and Small Craft training are provided.

*Daily rates are listed – the full seasonal schedule is 56 days worked; overall seasonal pay will vary depending on the number of days worked/time off taken.

 

Training

Our summer camp season begins with mandatory all-staff training from May 28 to June 7, 2024. Our camp sessions run from June 10 to August 2, 2024, with a break around July 4. You will live on-site, with the work week being Sunday-Friday.

Some positions require specific training on the following dates, but all staff are invited to attend if they would like:

Adventure Challenge Education: May 23- 25, 2024
Lifeguard Certification: May 28-30, 2024

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or at least 21 years of age for specific positions.
  • Previous experience teaching or delivering programming to youth.
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting and criminal background checks as required by Ohio law.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License for specific positions.
  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or National Career Readiness Certificate.
