ESCAPE! Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad brings history to life through storytelling, role playing, and hands on activities that illuminate the courage, strategy, and resilience of those who resisted slavery.

Focusing on the years 1830 to 1865, the exhibit highlights the brave and ingenious actions of men and women who risked everything in pursuit of freedom. Vibrant banners created by renowned artist Jerry Pinkney honor key abolitionists and conductors, adding color and depth to this family friendly experience.

Designed to educate and inspire, the exhibit helps visitors understand the networks of cooperation that made escape possible. You can explore ESCAPE! at the Freedom Center.
