About the Arepa Place

The Arepa Place specializes in arepas, a traditional Colombian and Venezuelan dish. Founded in Cincinnati in 2016 by Isis Arrieta-Dennis, a native of Colombia, the restaurant features recipes created by Isis and her mother. After more than two years operating out of Findlay Kitchen, the first brick-and-mortar location opened at Findlay Market in October 2018.

Fueled by a passion for Latin American cuisine and meaningful connections made over food, The Arepa Place continues to serve authentic Colombian dishes. Each meal reflects heritage, care, and a commitment to cultural flavor.

The Arepa Making Process

Stuffed arepas at The Arepa Place are made the traditional way—beginning with boiled and ground corn. The dough is kneaded, shaped into patties, and grilled to perfection. Each arepa is then cut open and filled. Filling options include mozzarella cheese, black beans, shredded beef, chorizo, or chicken. Breakfast arepas are also available for a satisfying start to the day.

Cheese arepas are crafted by blending mozzarella directly into the corn dough before grilling, creating a Colombian take on the classic grilled cheese. Every arepa is served with a choice of one of four homemade salsas.
