Coordinator of Work Experience

Job Description

The Coordinator of Work Experience coordinates employer engagement activities involving work experience and student employment and provides student career coaching.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate employer engagement events – presence on campus, classroom visits, and virtual events through Handshake.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for on-campus recruiting activities.
  • Manage HandShake Platform, administration, and employer connections
  • Manages co-op, internship, and apprenticeship opportunity bank for students and employers
  • Provides students with career planning and employment opportunities and coaches students through recruiting.
  • Counsels and advises students and recent alums individually and in groups about career exploration, self-assessment, and career decisions.
  • Reporting of data and outcomes for student work experience and post-graduation employment.
  • Delivers presentations and workshops for academic departments and student organizations to increase student interest in employee recruiting programs.
  • Administration of Amazon Choice program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, organizational development, business, administrative management, or related field(s) and three years experience.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).

Preferred

  • Master’s degree and five years of experience.
  • Knowledge of HandShake.
  • Familiarity with career planning.
  • Experience with delivering presentations to diverse groups.
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
