Job Descriptions

A typical day in the life of a Major Unusual Incidents Investigative Agent involves being out in the field meeting with individuals who have been involved in a major unusual incident.

As an investigator, you might meet at their home, a coffee shop, one of our offices, or wherever the individual is most comfortable. You will regularly interact with internal and external departments, community members, family members, guardians, direct care staff, providers, law enforcement, and court staff, to name a few.

Your goal is to support individuals to ensure their health and safety is met so they can live their best life:

  • Make phone calls from the iPhone we provide, attend Zoom and Teams meetings, and meet in person to ensure that a complete administrative investigation is conducted. Preventative measures are implemented to ensure the health and welfare of the individual(s) served.
  • Complete a comprehensive investigation summary for each assigned case on the laptop we provide.

Work Location:
Hybrid – remote and at HCDDS Support Center located at 1520 Madison Road Cincinnati, OH, 45206.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations of Major Unusual Incidents (MUI), including reviewing physical evidence and interviewing witnesses; collects additional reports and information from related sources; develops contacts with local law enforcement agencies and the Department of Jobs & Family Services and works jointly with them on investigations. This includes determining and acting upon incoming incidents and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Hotline incidents.
  • Prepares investigative reports and makes recommendations for the prevention of future incidents.
    Implements oversight responsibilities for the review and analysis of aggregate MUI reports.
  • Ensures that all statutory and administrative requirements are followed in the investigation and reporting of MUIs, including oversight.
  • Works a flexible and rotating on-call schedule*; responds to emergencies/crises involving individuals served and provides timely reports by Ohio Administrative Code that address Major Unusual Incidents and Unusual Incidents. (Addressing MUIs & UIs).
  • Maintains accurate progress notes and billing forms for all reviews, investigations conducted, and services rendered; maintains confidential information.
  • Travels to multiple sites within the community safely, efficiently, and effectively by agency procedures to conduct interviews and collect physical evidence.
  • Participates in office, agency, local, and state committees; attends meetings as the director assigns.
  • Attends meetings, seminars, and conferences to maintain professional development and to develop knowledge of current best practices.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass criminal background checks and various abuser registry checks.
  • Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university or Associate’s degree or achieved at least junior standing from an accredited college or university and two years full-time, supervised, paid work experience in conducting administrative, civil, and criminal investigations or experience in administration, supervision, instruction, or habilitation of individuals with Developmental Disabilities
    or successful completion of Ohio peace officer basic training or a comparable program, and two years full-time supervised paid work experience in conducting administrative, civil and criminal investigations.
    Or four years of full-time, paid work experience conducting administrative, civil, and criminal investigations.
  • Experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the Agency’s insurability requirements.
  • Experience conducting administrative, civil, and criminal investigations.
  • Knowledge of and experience in interviewing and investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience in criminology and criminal justice.
  • Knowledge of and experience in law enforcement procedures and methods.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Strongly for improving others’ lives, she demonstrated through superior customer service.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and an appreciation for the work behind providing social services to the community.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 36.25-hour work week, full-time role. Hourly position paid bi-weekly.
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work-from-home options.
  • One week of paid vacation and 15 sick days immediately allocated upon hire. Three personal days are provided per year, prorated with the emptyearly’s start date. I am starting vacation accrual of 3 weeks per year. IllOverme I accrued 15 days per year after the first year of employment with an unlimited accrual.
  • The starting salary range, determined by the formula accounting for years of experience, is $45,240.00 (base rate) to $56,550.00 (10 years of experience performing this same job or job with primarily the same duties).
