Job Description

Gateway Community and Technical College in Northern Kentucky is seeking a qualified applicant for a full-time position to join our outstanding and dedicated Nursing faculty. The ability to effectively work with a team in providing nursing education to Associate Degree Nursing students is essential to success in this position. This faculty member will engage in team teaching to provide nursing education.

This position starts on 8/1/2024.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in instructional presentation and delivery, planning and designing instructional programs, evaluation, and assessment.
  • Assist in designing and updating course syllabi, curriculum review, revision, and development.
    Incorporate the latest instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies in course delivery.
  • Assumes a participative role in supporting and promoting the College’s mission, goals, and objectives by performing the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the leadership of the department, division, and College.
  • Will be responsible for supplemental teaching in clinical and skills laboratory each semester as necessary.
  • Recruit students for the program.
  • Advise students who are in the program.
  • Monitor and improve student retention.
  • Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in faculty committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • BSN with 18 hours of graduate work in Nursing or BSN with a commitment to obtain MSN within five years.
  • Completion of a professional nursing education program approved by a state board of nursing.
  • Minimum of two years full-time or equivalent experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse within the immediate last five years.
  • Qualified candidates must possess medical/surgical experience.
  • Current, active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Kentucky.
  • Must have efficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Experience in classroom and clinical teaching, curriculum design, and the use of technology is essential to this position.
  • Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills and demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexibility, open-mindedness, a willingness to take risks, and a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.

Preferred

  • Masters in Nursing
  • Critical care, Pediatrics, obstetrics, and Mental Health experience are a plus.
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.

 

Vaccinations

  • PPD (TB) Skin Test (less than one year old).
  • Tetanus (within the last ten years).
  • MMR (2 doses OR positive titer).
  • Varicella (2 doses OR positive titer OR proof of historical exposure).
  • Hepatitis B (3 doses AND positive titer OR positive titer only OR Waiver).
  • Flu vaccine for the current season.
  • Covid vaccination.
