Summer Camp Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Clifton Cultural Arts Center (CCAC) seeks multiple Teaching Assistants for our 2024 Summer Camp program. Teaching Assistants will assist Summer Camp Lead Teachers in daily preparations, including but not limited to supply preparation, room set up, and lesson planning.

Teaching Assistants will also supervise groups of campers between classrooms and during lunch/recess. This position will regularly interact with the Summer Camp Lead Teacher, CCAC Staff, camper parents, and campers ages 3 – 12.

This is a temporary position with an hourly rate of $13 per hour. Camps run in week-long increments from June 3 – 18 and July 8 – August 9, 2024 (no camp the week of July 1 – 5 or June 19).

Teaching Assistants will be scheduled for up to nine weeks of camp within those dates, with varying working hours between 7:45 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. each camp day (approximately 32 – 38 hours per camp week).

Dates: Weekdays June 3 – August 9, 2024 (no camp the week of July 1 – 5 or on June 19, 2024)

Teaching Assistants will receive one paid 15-minute break during the day and eat lunch with their assigned camper group.

Teaching Assistants will also be required to attend paid training before the start of the summer camp season, a date to be determined after Summer Camp staff is hired.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee camper arrival at 9:00 a.m. and dismissal at 3:00 p.m.
  • Facilitate Before Care (8:00 – 9:00 a.m.) and After-Care (3:00 – 5:00 p.m.) activities on a rotating schedule.
  • Assist with room setup and supply preparation.
  • Assist Summer Camp Lead Teachers during lessons.
  • Supervise campers during classroom rotations and bathroom breaks.
  • Proctor camper lunch and recess.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Successful candidates are highly reliable, detail-oriented, proactive, and upbeat. They are professional in their communications and confident in their problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred experience working with children, particularly in a large group setting.
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and working styles.
  • Candidates who have completed or are working towards a college degree in arts education preferred.
  • Pass a local Hamilton County background check.
  • Reliable form of transportation.
