Edet Wettee opened Prvlgd Lounge and Bistro, his first live jazz Cincinnati club, after doing the grunt work of flyer distribution, coat checks, ID checks, promote parties and manage night clubs. Being able to do the grunt work has prepared Wettee to run and invest in a place of his own.
His new venue Prvlgd Lounge & Bistro will be open Wednesdays through Sundays and regularly host themed nights for live poetry or jazz. The menu, curated by executive Chef Maurice “Nem,” features starters, entrees, combos, specials, and sides.
Prvlgd Lounge & Bistro is located at 301 W. Fifth Street across from the Duke Energy Convention Center. The nightlife business can be difficult anywhere, but operating downtown can be a special challenge.”If you know the principles of business, you can run any business,” he said to the Cincinnati Enquirer. “You treat people right, have good customer service,” you can make it.
Wettee, who also owns three Metro PCS stores in Columbus and Chillicothe, said he wants the lounge to be a place for young professionals to go and network after work. He said the lounge will be a place where people aren’t “smoked out,” or choosing not to go to avoid cigarette smoke-filled rooms.
