About Arrested Development
True hip-hop trailblazers since 1991, Arrested Development has been a champion of consciousness and empowerment across the globe. Their eclectic blend of African sounds, vibrant style, and socially conscious lyrics created a distinctive approach that continues to stand apart in hip-hop.
With numerous albums and world tours, Arrested Development has left a lasting mark on the genre. Their breakthrough album, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of…, earned two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance (“Tennessee”), along with two MTV Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and an NAACP Image Award. Rolling Stone named them Band of the Year in 1992, VH1 recognized them among the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame included “Tennessee” in its list of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. They have also shared the stage with influential figures including Nelson Mandela, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama.
