The 36th Annual Black Family Reunion celebration is August 15-18.

The 2024 Cincinnati Black Family Reunion is a four-day celebration that includes consumers, corporations, and communities and focuses on the historic strengths and values of the Black Family. Cincinnati is the only city that continues this tradition of honoring Black families.

The 36th Annual Cincinnati Black Family Reunion Celebration features a weekend full of free family-focused events. These include a job fair, a parade, concerts, and opportunities to support local Black-owned businesses.

The celebration begins on Thursday, August 15, and runs through Sunday, August 18. Black history and African American cultural celebrations will be held throughout the four-day weekend. Locations include Fountain Square, Corinthian Baptist Church, Avondale, and Sawyer Point.

Superior Career Fair

August 15
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Music Hall (OTR)
This All-Professions event will feature numerous local, regional, and national companies actively recruiting for positions located in the Tri-State area, including hundreds of remote positions. Available positions include Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Drivers, Healthcare, Management, Skilled Trades, Supply Chain, Banking, Retail, Manufacturing, Administration, Warehouse, General Labor, Engineering, Information Technology, and much more! Companies may hire on the spot, so be sure to bring plenty of resumes and dress accordingly.

BFR College Tour

August 15 & 16

Meet at Fountain Square (Downtown)
This enriching opportunity, tailored specifically for African American students and those from diverse backgrounds, seeks to illuminate the pathways to higher education. This year, the tour focuses exclusively on exploring two of the nation’s esteemed historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), Wilberforce University and Central State University, over two insightful days.

BFR Parade

Beginning at Avondale Town Center (Avondale)
Annie Ruth is the Grand Marshal for the 2024 BFR Parade. The parade is a central and celebratory event of the Black Family Reunion, and her presence will serve as a symbol of the community’s resilience, pride, and commitment to progress.

Limited free parking is available nearby. There are also various private pay-to-park lots surrounding the area. Use the Cincy EZ Park App to pay for parking as appropriate. Arrive using Cincinnati METRO.


History of the Black Family Reunion

The Black Family Reunion, one of Cincinnati’s largest family-focused celebrations, was inaugurated in 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is held on the third weekend of August annually. The celebration of the historic strengths and values of the Black Family draws around 10,000 patrons.

Conceived by Dr. Dorothy I. Height, President Emerita of the National Council of Negro Women, the celebration is a four-day cultural event that ensures the historic morals of the Black family are showcased.
