This September, Black artistry is part of the creative conversation taking center stage at Cincinnati Ballet’s The Kaplan New Works Series. Internationally acclaimed choreographer Mthuthuzeli November* draws inspiration from the work of Cincinnati visual artist Gee Horton, exploring how an artistic vision can move from one medium into another.
Color becomes movement. Texture becomes choreography. Ideas expressed through visual art find a new voice through dance.
Their collaboration is part of an evening celebrating artists who challenge expectations and imagine what comes next. The program also brings together Cincinnati artist Michael Stillion with choreographer Melody Mennite, alongside works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Robert Bondara and Anne Jung.
Performed in the intimate Jarson-Kaplan Theater, New Works brings audiences remarkably close to the dancers, the artistry, and the creative process.
