This Giving Tuesday, Invest in Cincinnati’s Black-Led and Black-Serving Organizations.

Established in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global movement that inspires generosity by encouraging shoppers to give back to organizations and causes on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. This year, The Voice of Black Cincinnati invites the community to make a meaningful impact by supporting one of the following exceptional Black-led and Black-serving local organizations.

Cincinnati’s Black-Led and Black-Serving Organizations to Support on Giving Tuesday

IV CHARIS

IV-CHARIS (Compassionate Hearts Assisting Restoring Instructing and Serving) was founded in 1999 by Mamie E. Harris. It is the only minority faith-based organization in Cincinnati that is state-qualified to do HIV/Hepatitis C counseling, testing, and referral services.   IV-CHARIS is highly regarded on a local and state level for its system of quality, state-of-the-art, culturally competent trauma educational curriculum and services. 

All-In Cincinnati Equity Coalition

All-In Cincinnati is a coalition of committed organizations that have coalesced around dismantling racial inequity in the region by focusing on the Black community. The coalition aims to deepen, amplify, and multiply local and regional efforts to build equitable, thriving neighborhoods.

African American Chamber of Commerce

The African American Chamber was founded in 1996 by a group of African American business owners and consumers seeking to improve the economic status of African Americans and the African American community. The vision was to form an organization that would advocate for emerging and established businesses, help create new market opportunities, provide access to capital, and revitalize African American communities.

Black Art Speaks 

Black Art Speaks is a non-profit, membership-based art collective that promotes Black culture, social justice, and expression by uplifting Black artists’ voices through every art form. The team consists of artists united by a vision to improve Cincinnati and the rest of the world. Cincinnati Black Giving Circle

The Cincinnati Black Giving Circle (CBGC) is a coalition of Black Americans pooling their resources to accelerate social change. CBGC was launched to honor and continue the rich history of Black giving, and to help unleash the economic power of Black American donors, thereby catalyzing an even more significant impact for the entire community. GCF collaborates with CBGC to develop a new philanthropic infrastructure that amplifies the effects of Black philanthropy.

Cincinnati NAACP

The Cincinnati NAACP carries forward the NAACP’s mission in Cincinnati, prioritizing Black lives in all spaces and doing the real work of eliminating racial hatred and discrimination while ensuring equal rights for all.

Corinthian Baptist Church

Corinthian Baptist Church, located in Cincinnati, OH, is a vibrant and welcoming community offering various ministries and worship services. Led by Pastor KZ Smith and a dedicated staff, CBC is committed to spiritual growth and providing opportunities for individuals of all ages to connect with God and each other. With a rich history and a focus on outreach, CBC strives to positively impact the lives of its members and the surrounding community.

DAD Initiative

The Directing Adolescent Development (D.A.D.) Initiative is a non-profit founded in 2013 when founder Tyran Stallings noticed the need to grow Black male participation in the educational process, where only 2% of teachers are Black men. The initiative provides mentorship, education workshops, 21st-century skills development courses, summer enrichment programs, community health events, and workforce development training.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center 

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is the preeminent cultural learning center for inclusive freedom — locally, nationally, and globally. Several permanent exhibits are showcased, and the Freedom Center also hosts a variety of special traveling exhibitions throughout the year.

From Fatherless to Fearless

With its comprehensive, evidence-informed approach and specialized focus, From Fatherless to Fearless is uniquely positioned to address the needs and benefits of fatherless girls. They understand the profound impact that fatherlessness can have on girls, including emotional distress, decreased self-perception, and challenges in forming healthy relationships. Their signature program and innovative events provide a safe space for girls to share their experiences, learn coping strategies, and embrace community.

Preschool Promise 

Many quality 3-, 4-, and 5-star preschools, childcare centers, and daycare centers offering Montessori, private, Catholic, and in-home education are enrolling new students. Families with a gross household income of up to 300% of the federal poverty level may be eligible to attend any step-up-to-quality location. Preschool Promise Tuition Assistance is available to eligible families to have some or all co-payments or tuition paid by Cincinnati Preschool Promise. Reese’s Heart

The mission of Reese’s Heart is to serve others by providing necessities and improving the quality of life for those at risk or experiencing homelessness. Reese and the rest of the family collect and distribute donations to those in need by making ‘blessing bags’ filled with toiletries and snack items.

Revolution Dance Theatre

Revolution Dance Theatre is a ballet company creating professional theatre and dance opportunities for African Americans. Intent on inclusion, its concerts and classes challenge traditional perceptions of ballet, but more importantly, they challenge conventional perceptions of Blackness.

Robert O’Neal Multicultural Arts Center  

ROMAC is the home for Cincinnati’s African American history collection from the 1800s to the 1960s. The art center provides infrastructure and stability to emerging artists and entrepreneurs and elevates the capacity of professional artists. In conjunction with art and history exhibitions, cultural and heritage programs, theatrical performances, and educational programs, the ROMAC will be a pipeline for creatives of color for the region’s branding and design community. Hours are by appointment.   

St. Andrews Episcopal Church

St. Andrews Episcopal Church is a historically Black Episcopal Church founded in 1894. Located just a few miles outside downtown Cincinnati in the Evanston neighborhood, it is also an LGBTQ+ affirming, racially and socio-economically diverse community of believers. St. Andrews is engaged in social justice and community-based initiatives in its neighborhood and city.

Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio 

A local affiliate of the National Urban League, the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio is committed to driving equity and financial empowerment for African Americans through advocacy, education, and development. The League’s Mission is to help Black people and historically underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, civil rights, and justice.

Giving Tuesday highlights the transformative power of generosity in creating stronger, more equitable communities.
