See the incomparable Esperanza Spalding at Memorial Hall on February 19 for an unforgettable evening of music and artistry. The Grammy Award–winning bassist, vocalist, and composer is renowned for her genre-defying sound, which seamlessly blends jazz, soul, and contemporary influences. Emphasizing simplicity and intimacy of her voice, bass, and songs, in this special configuration of two musicians and two dancers, esperanza will perform songs from her previous albums, current releases, plus a special preview of her forthcoming project.

Another Longworth-Anderson Series evening of great music, food, and drink! Complimentary pre-concert reception features live local music, light bites from Ollie’s Trolley, and N.Y.P.D. Pizza and craft beer tastings from HighGrain Brewing Co.

About esperanza spalding

Born in 1984 in Portland, Oregon, esperanza spalding is an eaabibacliitoti* artist, trained and initiated in the North American (masculine) jazz lineage and tradition. Her work interweaves through various combinations of instrumental music, bass playing, improvisation, singing, composition, poetry, dance, therapeutic research, storytelling, teaching, regenerative agriculture, urban land & artist-sanctuary custodianship, and growing in love as a daughter, sister, cousin, niece, auntie, great-auntie, and friend, while collaboratively decolonizing within and through her hometown community.

About the Longworth-Anderson Series

Launched in early 2017 by the Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society, the Longworth-Anderson Series (LAS) features GRAMMY Award-winning and other nationally recognized performers and bands at beautiful, intimate Memorial Hall. This annual series showcases artists from a variety of contemporary music genres including Americana, bluegrass, blues, country, folk, gospel, hip hop, indie rock, jazz, pop, R&B, reggae, soul, and world music. Events that are part of the series provide an entire evening of entertainment including pre-concert receptions with live local music, light bites, and beer & wine tastings from popular regional restaurants, craft beer brewers, and wine distributors.

Parking   

The most convenient parking option is directly across the street at the Washington Park Garage. Use the Cincy EZ Park App to pay for parking as appropriate. Take the Cincinnati METRO to the venue.

Accessibility   

Memorial Hall’s basement, first floor, and second floor are fully accessible. The preferred method is the patron elevator located on the north side of the building, which can be accessed on the street level.   

Additionally, the Annie W. and Elizabeth M. Anderson Theater is equipped with several wheelchair- and scooter-accessible seating locations. For additional information on accessible seating, please call the Box Office at 513-977-8838
